Operational resilience has become a major focus of management attention driven by experience of catastrophic business disruption, high profile operational and management control failures and increasing attention from global regulators to account for operational risk as a key business risk. A full day conference was held in London and in Edinburgh.

In a major initiative, the ifs and IBM teamed up to study the impact of these issues on the financial services industry. The program of management reports and industry surveys culminated in the two seminars where the results of the surveys and research were launched.

Mr. Keister's presentation documented how Centerprise uses the IBM WebSphere MQ Family for business process integration in its enterprise system for risk management and control in the wholesale capital markets. Legacy data conversion to XML, workflow for operational efficiency, and combining MQSeries Integrator and Workflow for operational resilience was discussed. The presentation further demonstrated how these products can be used to address both operational and control issues.
